Collection includes: a 55 p. essay by Claretie on Vereshchagin (the Russian history painter who worked in France), with an editor's notations; four letters from Vereshchagin to the critic Jules Claretie, tipped into an exhibition catalogue dated 1897; a pencil drawing of Napoleon during the retreat from Moscow (n.d.); a typescript of a story, "Un Naufrage," presumably written by Vereshchagin; two photographs of the artist; and miscellaneous printed materials, including an obituary by Georges Claretie and a copy of a 1904 article on Vereshchagin by Marius Vachon.
